The religion Islam was found in the holy city of Mecca in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is mostly practiced in Iran.

Beliefs:

The Islamic people believe in many things. One thing is they believe in one god named Allah. Another thing they believe in is that two angles are assigned to record the actions of humans; one records the good deeds the other records the bad deeds. They also believe in all the messages from Adam to Mohammed without any discrimination. Finally they believe in resurrection which is after the end of the world, every human will resurrect from the grave.

God:

The Islam's worship one god named Allah. The book Qur'an says that Allah is the creator of everything. Allah is a generic title for whatever god was the highest god. Many believe that Allah was from the mid-eastern word "el" in Hebrew it means true or false god.

Sacred Writings:

The Quran is the primary text of Islam. It is the word of Allah, which the way Muslims must live in the world. It is required reading for anyone who wants to understand Islam.

Practices:

They must perform five daily prayers. Once at dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and night fall. They pray mostly in the mosque with other people. They have to stand shoulder to shoulder and they have to prone, or lay on their face, before Allah.

Holidays:

Their main holiday is Ramadan. In Ramadan you fast for the whole month. They cannot eat or drink during daylight hours. The Muslims celebrate this to help self-discipline, self-restraint, and generosity.

Symbols:

The symbols are the crescent and the star. The crescent is there because Islam is based on the lunar calendar and it marks the beginning of Ramadan.
